Adlai Stevenson (1900-1965)
was twice democratic candidate for President of the United States and served
for five years as ambassador to the United Nations. His primary residence
was his farm in Libertyville, Illinois, erected 1938. We are beginning to
plan and program for conversion to a scholars' retreat and international
relations conference center with an exhibition component honoring the great
statesman. The renovation of the sixteen room house restores the major Stevenson
living spaces; the stable renovation is planned for a lecture theatre, interpretive
exhibit, and support facilities.
